SUMMARY:Join Our Creative Aging Art Workshop Series
DESCRIPTION:Paint and paper your way through a contemplative art process as we explore ancient wisdom and modern abstract expressionism. Through instruction\, demonstration\, and hands-on exercises\, students will survey the fundamentals of design\, composition\, and color as the components to create an abstract painting. We will view famous works of art and discuss our responses to them. Do you love it or hate it? Let’s hear why! The class will culminate with an exhibition of students’ abstract paintings made with acrylic paint and artisan-crafted papers. Because abstract expressionism has an emotive quality\, we will pair modern art with ancient wisdom through a brief introduction to the Tao. This mindful awareness around flow\, flexibility\, and finding spaces informs artistic choices necessary for abstract painting. Have you ever been perplexed by a painting and thought\, “I could do that?” This is your chance to give it a try in a spirited environment and supportive community of learners.  \nDetails \n\nWhen: Saturday\, April 6\, 13\, 20\, 27\, and May 4\,11\nTime: 3-5 pm \nLocation: The Emerald Hills Institute at 6715 S 1300 E STE 100\, Salt Lake City\, UT 84121\nPrimarily serving Adults 55 years and older.\nFee: $60 for the six-week course\, all supplies included with the fee\nSpace is limited\, slots are filled on a first come first serve basis\n\n  \nRSVP \n  \nFor Questions: \ninfo@emeraldhillsinstitute.org \n(801) 462-6402 \n
