Avenues Ramadan Dinner

The shared purpose of the Avenues Interfaith Ramadan dinner was to build bridges of interfaith friendship, respectfully learn from each other, and for our children to experience being part of a vibrant community that values loving our neighbors.

Mission accomplished!

Of the 150 in attendance, about 50 were children, many of whom had never been part of an interfaith event. All were able to see the joy in interfaith friendships, witness the prayers of another faith, and enjoy the tastiness of intercultural desserts!

A beautiful presentation about Ramadan was presented by Serhat Kariparduc. Zeynep Kariparduc shared an inspiring video on the mission and work of Emerald Hills Institute. And Carrie Skarda led the group in a fun icebreaker using bright yellow flags – the color of friendship.

The food was a joint effort in deliciousness, and everyone walked away nourished in body and soul! Perhaps the most inspiring part of the evening was how the adults and teens spontaneously came together at the end to clean up and stack up chairs while the little children ran around and played. True community in action!
