Emerald Hills Institute

On January 17th, Emerald Hills Institute hosted a Dreamcatcher Workshop led by Native American artist Amy Riggs, where she shared the traditional techniques and cultural significance behind dreamcatcher making.

Participants learned about the traditional origins of dreamcatchers, including how they were originally made using wooden hoops, as well as how modern materials are used today.

Throughout the evening, Amy guided everyone through the process of weaving and wrapping their own dreamcatchers, offering support, encouragement, and space for creativity. The workshop also opened conversations about Native heritage and the importance of honoring cultural traditions.

The evening highlighted the power of art as a way to learn, connect, and honor cultural traditions within the community.

Special thanks to the Utah Division of Arts and Museums for their supports to make this event possible.
