On November 19, the Emerald Hills Institute hosted an engaging evening with the Centerville Relief Society of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The gathering was centered on fostering interfaith understanding and celebrating shared values through cultural traditions.
We explored the story of Prophet Noah, commemorating his arrival on Mount Ararat with a traditional Turkish dessert, Noah’s Pudding (Ashura). This symbolic dish carries deep meaning, representing peace, community, and the celebration of survival and new beginnings. The tradition stems from Turkey, where Ashura is celebrated annually to promote friendship, neighborly goodwill, and universal harmony.
The evening was enriched by warm conversations, mutual respect, and curiosity about each other’s customs. It was a delightful opportunity to strengthen connections and deepen our understanding of cultural and spiritual practices that unite us.
We look forward to more meaningful exchanges in the future!
