
On March 8th, the Emerald Hills Institute hosted its Annual Interfaith & Dialogue Iftar, bringing together a diverse community to foster understanding, connection, and shared reflection. The evening provided a platform for interfaith dialogue, cultural exchange, and meaningful conversations over a shared meal.
The program began with a warm welcome and introduction by Daniel Meza , highlighting Emerald Hills Institute’s mission of promoting interfaith dialogue, community engagement, and social harmony. Attendees were introduced to the organization’s work through a featured video, followed by opening remarks from EHI Board Member and Interfaith & Dialogue Programs Coordinator, Zeynep Kariparduc. She shared a heartfelt tribute to the late Fethullah Gülen, whose lifelong dedication to education, dialogue, and humanitarian service continues to inspire Emerald Hills Institute’s work.
Community advocate and former Salt Lake County Deputy Mayor Karen Hale addressed the audience, emphasizing the importance of building bridges across faiths and cultures. The event continued with a presentation on Ramadan, offering attendees deeper insights into the spiritual significance and practices of the holy month.
As the sun set, guests observed the Call to Prayer, followed by a prayer from Deidre Straight of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, underscoring the evening’s interfaith spirit. The shared iftar meal provided a space for open dialogue, fostering connections between individuals of different backgrounds.
The night concluded with expressions of gratitude to the speakers, volunteers, and all attendees who contributed to making the gathering a success. The event reaffirmed Emerald Hills Institute’s commitment to fostering unity, understanding, and meaningful engagement among communities.
