On November 10, Emerald Hills Institute hosted a heartwarming Interfaith Thanksgiving Gathering in partnership with the Salt Lake Communication Council of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Held at the beautiful Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral and opened by the gracious Father George Nikas. The evening brought together diverse voices to celebrate gratitude, reflection, and connection.
The program featured inspiring messages from six faith leaders:
•Imam Yasir Butt (Masjid Al-Noor Mosque)
•Rev. Vinnetta Golphin-Wilkerson (Granger Community Christian Church)
•Pastor Daryell Jackson (Trinity AME Church)
•Jan Saeed (Baha’i faith representative)
•JB Singh (Sikh Temple of Utah)
•Rev. Brigette Weier (St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church)
Each speaker shared profound insights into how their traditions approach gratitude, weaving a tapestry of shared values and unique perspectives.
One of the highlights of the evening was a stunning performance by a bell duet and a communal moment of song as we united to sing “Simple Gifts.” The program closed with a benediction by Jon Hale, representing the Salt Lake Communication Council, and a warm invitation to connect over refreshments while enjoying the talented guitarists Dave Bell and Mandy Zito.
This gathering served as a powerful reminder of the beauty found in diversity and the strength of unity. Special thanks to the organizers and community members who made this evening so meaningful. Let us carry forward the spirit of gratitude and connection into the holiday season.
